Publisher about the book
Gladwell (1963) has been one of the most famous publicists in the world for a decade (he has been writing for the famous magazine The New Yorker since 1996), and in his books, with an exceptional narrative talent, he combines findings from sociology, economics and psychology with intriguing stories, with which he tries to encourage us to think more actively about our view of the world and everyday events in it. In his debut book, The Tipping Point (2000, English translation 2004) thus revealed how, similar to infectious diseases, ideas, habits, messages and products spread. In his next work, Preblisk (2005, English translation 2008) delved into the field of intuitive thinking, exploring the "power of thinking without thinking" and illustrating in many ways how malleable the brain is, capable of extracting an intuitive essence in a few moments that becomes rationally apparent only after a long time. In Breakthroughs from 2008 (English translation 2009) Gladwell tried to explain to us, using various examples and from different perspectives, how and why some people succeed while others, perhaps endowed with similar abilities, fail altogether. His 2009 book What the Dog Saw was a collection of his previously published texts and has not been translated into Slovenian.
