With winter break approaching, Molly Rosenberg needs to complete a few more hours of community service to finish the semester. She's reluctant to join the Santa Monica volunteers for the annual homeless count. But everything changes when she meets Red, an unusual homeless woman who is only a few years older than her. Molly wants to help her and reconnect her with her family. The task is harder than she expected, as Red refuses to talk about his past. And it gets even harder when Molly realizes that the friends Red keeps mentioning are just voices in her head. The two girls have much more in common than they seem at first glance.
The Rescue Order is a charming and sensitive novel in verse, about homelessness, mental illness, friendship and complicated family relationships. (taken from the website knjigarna.net)
