We follow a parallel world in which a ghost epidemic occurs. Restless spirits of the dead appear at night, their touch is deadly, and only children can see or hear them, who are therefore on the front lines of the war. Such are Anthony Lockwood, Lucy Carlyle and George Cubbins, agents of London's smallest ghost-fighting agency, the only one that operates without adult supervisors. In the second part, the tension is further heightened by a ghost from a skull trapped in a glass jar. The narrator, Lucy, discovers that she has special abilities and can talk to so-called type 3 ghosts, such as the ghost from the skull. This is full of poignant remarks and information that sometimes bring them closer to a solution, and other times lead them into the arms of death.
