On Public Libraries Day, 20. 11. 2025, is in Valvasor Library Krško A gala event and awards ceremony of the Association of Public Libraries for the best projects of Slovenian public libraries that bring books and readers closer together in a special and innovative way, as well as awards for those librarians who tell readers about books in a quality way on the Dobreknjige.si portal, took place.

The Celje Central Library received the award for the best project, Coloring Pages from Our Journeys, which has been implemented by the children's department of the Library at Mišek Knjižku for the third year in a row.

The award-winning Coloring Pages from Our Journeys project is aimed at families and is part of the library's efforts to promote family and intergenerational reading as an important building block of reading literacy. It motivates families with primary school children to read, explore, talk and spend free time together. The project is designed as a monthly travelogue gathering that presents different nations and their cultures in an attractive and interactive way, encourages reading and research related to the presented country, and through conversations and activities lays the foundation for respectful and tolerant views of the diversity of nations, religions and customs.

The project is innovative in its approach to the target group and the selection of content to which it attaches the set goals. The selected values are conveyed in an unobtrusive manner, woven into interesting and attractive content. We also recognize the innovation in the fact that the diverse elements of the activity are creatively connected into a comprehensive experience and that the interlocutors of the young visitors to the activity are also their peers (children from a traveling family), who perceive the diversity of the countries they travel through through their own eyes. The project shows an extremely positive response from users, which is reflected in the number of gratifying visits, and the visitors' answers to the survey questions confirm that the library is successful in achieving the set goals.

We are extremely proud that our library creates stories that connect families. Coloring Pages from Our Journeys is a project that grew out of a desire to experience the world together, read, and be curious. The award makes us happy, but above all, it inspires us to continue creating content that brings joy and closeness to families.
