Črna is a story about a different girl, later in the novel a young woman, marked by the color of her skin; she was born to Roma parents and was given to an orphanage in Šutka, a suburb of Skopje as a baby. Despite living with loving adoptive parents, the black color of her skin often represents pain for her, as in her most vulnerable childhood years she is the object of ridicule and the target of teasing. When the little girl grows up, she gathers the strength and courage to find her parents and travels from Slovenia to Macedonia... Thus, the fate of Črna is intertwined in the novel with the stories of her real, Roma parents, brother, sister - her other family. Črna is a novel about how blood of the same color flows under light or dark skin, about the search for identity, about the cultural and social differences of different social environments, about life in the Balkans, but also about the profession of writing and the beauty of literature, which can be one of the medicines for a wounded soul.
