Due to poverty in her family, the main character Conxa, at the age of thirteen, has to go to live with her aunt and uncle, who have no children of their own and live on a farm in a Pyrenean mountain village. The novel Kamen v melišču describes her fate from her childhood and adulthood, when she gets married, stays on the farm and starts a family, to the time when her adult children leave home and she also loses other loved ones. Through a fast, fluently readable narrative, the author reveals the most tender female feelings, from bright to sad nuances. The novel is an intimate story about the life of a woman and generations of her descendants, but also a story about the decline of the old world, about the gap between generations and the abandonment of the rural environment for the apparent glitter of the city. Are beautiful memories really the only home for an old person?
