Janez Bitenc, author of "The Long-eared Rabbit", "Our Hair...", "Tinka Polovinka"..., has this time written a book for adults - a book of memories of his childhood in Ljubljana. A wonderful book, warm and friendly, full of the nostalgic beauty of a world that was not crowded with toys and material luxury, but was nevertheless full of small attentions and great longings. The most beautiful possible monument to pre-war Ljubljana and its inhabitants: locals, peers from the courtyard on Vidovdanska, numerous little people: the egg seller, the greengrocer, beggars, vagrants and orphans, and above all to the "loving, noble and kind-hearted woman" to whom the book is dedicated: noni. A must read!
