Everything Counts is a collection of seventeen short stories that are seemingly unrelated to each other. They are all written in the first person, and the narrator is always different. The stories show glimpses of the lives of Africans in Ghana, Ghanaians in foreign lands, and the attitude of Ghanaians towards their people in Ghana and beyond, as well as their attitude towards Europeans and their customs. In the stories, we learn about the feelings of an individual in various situations and relationships. The focus is most often on women and their role in the family and wider society.
