In Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, a city where Eastern and Western – Asian and European culture, Christianity and Islam – meet, intertwine and oppose each other in the period before the October Revolution, affection develops between high school students Ali and Nina. Ali Khan Shirvanshir is a descendant of a prominent Baku noble family, raised in accordance with Muslim culture and tradition, while the family of the Georgian prince Kipiani, in which Nina grows up, lives and thinks in a European way. From high school sympathy grows a love that is tender, but at the same time firm and deep, stronger than cultural differences and the trials of turbulent times.
